Ordinary young people in Uganda do extraordinary work, and thus claim extraordinary status. That’s the game we are talking about here. We live with them and around them, they are probably age mates or even younger, we went to the same schools with them, they are probably our friends, bosses, family members, leaders or even workmates. But they are different now, their achievements speak for themselves, they have become stars and role models.
Their stories and achievements have had a personal significant effect on your life and the lives of people around you, someone whose work you admire and you would like the world to recognise the good work done. Take a few minutes to share their story with us, they could be the next young achievers fronted on Uganda and the world scene!
Here is the good news, nominations for this year’s Young Achievers Awards are on and the process is simple. It’s easy to nominate the person whose work you admire. But a thoughtful, well-written nomination is essential to help yours stand out from the thousands we receive. Here are some suggestions we hope will help you in crafting your nomination for consideration as a 2017 young achiever.
We want to know how special your hero is. Before you put pen to paper, ask yourself: What makes my nominee unique? What specific accomplishment has he or she achieved that is truly remarkable? What impact has his or her work had on others? We encourage you to watch our official video here and get to know some of our past winners who are transforming Uganda. You could be inspired!
Have a look at our nomination form. We suggest you review the information requested about yourself, your nominee and his or her work before filling out your submission.
Take your time and tell us about your hero. Don’t rush. Write from the heart. Remember: What you share — in your own words — is the most important factor in advancing a nomination for further consideration. You can enter your answers to the essay questions directly on the form, or write them first in a word-processing document and cut and paste them into each answer field.
Click “Submit.” If your nomination has been successfully transmitted, you’ll see a “thank you” message on your screen. This is the only confirmation you will receive. And yes, we read each and every one.
If that procedure is hard, why not submit a video? Well, we know not everyone is comfortable with writing and that is why we are accepting video submission. Just fill in your contact details and submit your video which answers the questions in the nomination form. We are waiting to hear from you!
